SGS has been present in Kenya for more than 60 years. At its start SGS was providing services essentially to Cereal traders by the then existent weights & tallying departments, and then subsequently started a microbiology lab for testing of the grains as an additional service to the weighing & tallying. SGS Kenya has always kept abreast of new trends and standards at the international level and has been expanding its services over the years to respond to the local needs.
Today, SGS Kenya comprises a workforce of some 140 people and is particularly active in the Agricultural, Food, Oil and Gas, Minerals and Environment sectors, amongst others, through its expertise in:
It has contributed to the development and implementation of Quality Management Systems for many local firms and organizations. SGS Kenya is equipped with modern and competent laboratories accredited ISO 17025 in the Eastern African Region since 2002.
SGS has been providing services to the Kenya Government by executing PSI (pre-shipment valuation inspections) in the past, and PVoC (pre-export verification of conformity) services.
Integrity, transparency and ethical behaviour have always been the core values of SGS and these have contributed to its success and reputation in Kenya. SGS is recognised as an independent and reliable partner in international trade. The aim of SGS is to become a reference in terms of quality in Kenya and in the larger African region.
